Project Aquila Dropped: Facebook drops its plan of creating a drone

The social media big brother, Facebook has confirmed to drop its plan of creating a drone that will beam down the internet connectivity.

In 2014, Project Aquila got its first announcement but failed to achieve the long times managed by airborne from its rivals – Google inclusive.

Facebook said on Tuesday that it would rather partner with firms like Airbus to boost its effort of connecting more people to the internet.

In blog post, Facebook’s Director of Engineering, Yael Maguire said, “It’s been exciting to see leading companies in aerospace industry start investing in this technology too – including the design and construction of new high – altitude aircraft.”

“Given these developments we’ve decided not to design or build our own aircraft any longer.”
